This is the expensive decision in a kitchen. Relocating it means breaking up the floor, running new supply and waste pipework, and testing everything again. Ø ½"–¾" PVC pressure pipe is B/. 5.00 per metre and Ø 2" waste pipe B/. 5.00 per metre; the cost is not in the pipe, it is in the demolition, the patching and the lost time.
If your layout allows it, leave the sink where it is and reorganise everything else around it. It is the advice that has saved the most budget on the kitchens we have done.
In Panama, a kitchen without working extraction is a factory for moisture and grease on the walls. The higher-capacity extractor with grille and connection is B/. 65.00; the small bathroom type is B/. 35.00. And the duct to the façade, at B/. 7.50 per metre, is what makes the air actually leave instead of recirculating.
Ceramic wall tiling in kitchens, laundries and around sinks is B/. 12.50 per m². Do not skimp on the splashback area: it is where grease and water attack the wall every single day. If there is stud partitioning behind, insist on moisture-resistant green board at B/. 10.00 per m², not standard.
| Activity | Unit | Installation price | |
|---|---|---|---|
| High-wall inverter split unit 9,000–12,000 BTU/h, complete unit | u | B/. 150.00 | |
| High-wall inverter split unit 18,000 BTU/h, complete unit | u | B/. 210.00 | |
| Decorative PVC/ABS trunking for refrigerant lines and cabling | m | B/. 5.00 | |
| PVC/ABS protective sleeve for wall penetrations, sealed | u | B/. 10.00 | |
| Wall penetration seal with polyurethane foam or mastic | u | B/. 7.50 | |
| Protective metal cover for exposed outdoor unit | u | B/. 65.00 |
The B/. 7.50 wall penetration seal looks like an insignificant detail, and it is exactly where rainwater gets in on half the badly installed systems we end up correcting.
An 8 m² kitchen without relocating the sink is done in 5 to 8 working days: strip-out and removal, plumbing and electrics, tiling, grouting, then fitting the extraction and light fittings.
If you relocate the sink or change the layout completely, count on 10 to 14 days. And plan the logistics: the kitchen is out of use during the works, so it is worth starting on a Monday and not on the eve of a date when you need the house ready.
The rate card above is installation only. The floor tile, the wall tile, the sink, the tap, the extractor, the light fittings and the cabinetry are separate. Kitchen units — cabinets and worktop — are usually the largest single line in the whole project, and are quoted by material: melamine, veneered MDF, granite, quartz.
Our practical recommendation: settle the worktop and the cabinets first, because they dictate the tiling height and the position of the electrical points. Changing them after tiling means redoing work.
An 8 m² kitchen with flooring, tiling, plumbing, extraction and lighting starts at B/. 717.50 in labour under our installation rate card, excluding materials and ITBMS tax.
Because it means breaking up the floor, running new supply and waste pipework, patching, and repeating the watertightness test at B/. 70.00. The cost is not the pipe, it is the demolition and the time.
Ceramic wall tiling in kitchens, laundries and around sinks is B/. 12.50 per m².
The higher-capacity extractor with grille and connection is B/. 65.00 installed, plus the Ø 100 mm ventilation duct to the façade at B/. 7.50 per metre. Without a real duct to the façade, the air recirculates and the grease stays inside.
Not in the sink and splashback area. You have to use 12.7 mm moisture-resistant green board at B/. 10.00 per m², against B/. 7.50 for the standard type.
5 to 8 working days if the sink stays put. With a complete layout change, 10 to 14 days.
