A complete 4 m² bathroom starts at B/. 602.50 in labour if everything is redone: floor, wall tiling, fixtures and accessories. Here is the exact breakdown so you can see why.
Get your estimate in 2 minutes · Remodelling Cost CalculatorSquare metre for square metre, the bathroom is the most expensive room in a house — and not out of vanity. Those 4 m² concentrate plumbing, waterproofing, tiling, electrics and sanitary fixtures. That is why it pays to look at it line by line rather than as one round number.
Using our installation rate card, a standard bathroom with 4 m² of floor and around 14 m² of tiled wall works out like this:
| Activity | Quantity | Unit price | Line total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Removal of interior ceramic or porcelain floor tile | 4 m² | B/. 7.50 / m² | B/. 30.00 |
| Removal of sanitary fixtures (toilet and washbasin) | 2 u | B/. 20.00 / u | B/. 40.00 |
| Removal of tap or stop valve | 1 u | B/. 7.50 / u | B/. 7.50 |
| Anti-slip ceramic floor tile, 0.30×0.30 m | 4 m² | B/. 10.00 / m² | B/. 40.00 |

Example quantities for a 2.00 × 2.00 m bathroom tiled to 2.40 m. Enter your own in the remodelling calculator.
Tiling only the shower area is not the same as tiling floor to ceiling. The example uses 14 m² of wall. Tile a 2×2 m bathroom fully to 2.40 m and you are close to 19 m² — that change alone adds around B/. 62.50 in labour.
Leaving the toilet and basin where they are is cheap. Moving them means breaking up the floor, running new pipework and testing the system again. Ø 1½" PVC waste pipe for minor wastes runs at B/. 5.00 per metre and Ø 4" for toilets at B/. 10.00 per metre, plus the B/. 70.00 watertightness test that should never be skipped.
A 0.30×0.30 m anti-slip floor tile is laid at B/. 10.00 per m². The 0.30×0.60 m format goes up to B/. 12.50 per m² because it demands better levelling and generates more cutting waste. In a small bathroom that is a few balboas; across an office toilet block, it shows.
An accessible bathroom is a different standard. A SENADIS-compliant toilet at 45–50 cm height is B/. 85.00, an accessible pedestal-free washbasin B/. 65.00, a mirror with its bottom edge at 0.90 m or below B/. 25.00, and the full grab bar kit (side plus fold-down) B/. 95.00. An accessible PVC cubicle with 1.50 × 1.50 m clear runs at B/. 160.00.
In Panama this is not optional. Where there is stud partitioning, 12.7 mm moisture-resistant green board is installed at B/. 10.00 per m² against B/. 7.50 for standard board. That B/. 2.50 per metre difference saves you rebuilding the wall in two years.
The rate card above is the installation service only. The tiles, the toilet, the basin, the tap, the cement and the adhesive are supplied by you, or quoted separately.
This usually works in the client's favour for two reasons. First, you choose the brand and the finish, with no substitution surprises. Second, you see clearly what you pay for work and what you pay for product — which is exactly where overcharging normally hides.
As a practical benchmark, in a mid-range bathroom the materials tend to land in the same order of magnitude as the labour. If your total budget is fixed, start by settling the finishes and we will adjust the scope from there.
A complete 4 m² bathroom, without moving plumbing, normally takes 4 to 6 working days: one day of strip-out and removal, one of plumbing and patching, two of tiling, one for grouting and curing, and one to fit the fixtures and accessories.
If water or waste points have to be moved, add 2 to 3 days. And if the bathroom sits in a condominium or an office with a contractor policy, allow time for permits and the site-hours restrictions, which in some buildings cut the working day in half.
We work across the whole country: Panama City, Panamá Oeste, Arraiján, La Chorrera, Capira, San Miguelito, Costa del Este, Colón and David.
