What is different about felling a tree in David
Yards in David often have old, wide-canopy trees, such as mangos or corotú (guanacaste), that grew while the lot was empty and now sit right against the house. In the dry season, Chiriquí's winds shake heavy limbs, and in the rainy season the soil softens. That is when limbs are most likely to snap or a trunk starts to lean.
Because David is far from our base in Capira, we schedule the visit in advance, and it is worth reviewing every tree on the property on the same trip. Travel is quoted separately. If there are power lines nearby, we coordinate with Chiriquí's power distributor (EDECHI, part of Naturgy) before cutting.
- Tree that threatens the house or is diseased: the MiAmbiente permit is free (Res. DM-0055-2020).
- Tree in the way of a building or extension: the inspection costs B/. 50.
- Trees less than 100 m from a river or stream are protected by law (Law 1 of 1994, art. 23); we check this before offering to fell them.
Verifiable facts
“A poorly cut tree can cost more than the service itself. That is why we do controlled felling, with the permit in order and protecting the property. We publish this because that is how we work.”

Frequently asked questions
What permit do I need to fell a tree in my yard in David?
You need authorization from MiAmbiente's Chiriquí Regional Office. If the tree is dangerous, diseased or damaging a structure, the process is free. We prepare the photos and the letter and coordinate the inspection.
Do you travel to David from Panamá Oeste?
Yes. We schedule the visit in advance, and it is worth assessing every tree on the property on the same trip. Travel is quoted separately from the per-tree price.
Can you remove a large mango tree right next to the house?
Yes. It comes down in sections: the limbs first, then the trunk, in pieces tied off with rope so nothing falls on the roof. For a large tree near a building, that job starts at $800.
What should I do if a tree leaned over in the wind in David?
Keep people away, do not try to cut it yourself, and take photos. We use those photos to request the free danger permit, and we coordinate with EDECHI if it touches power lines.
How much does it cost to fell a tree in David?
The base price is $200 per tree with a building nearby and $800 for a large tree taken down in sections. Neither includes transport. The exact quote comes after seeing the tree and is free.
